Behind the scenes...A/W '13

So on Tuesday we went ahead with our photo shoot for our A/W '13 collection at The White Room Studio in Brixton. The collection consists of our signature Rubber and PVC creations, this time dabbling with black PVC and studs to fit the punk/grunge feel of the season.

We were shooting not only images for the website, (the new collection will be available on there very soon!) but also images for a lookbook.

It was a very successful and enjoyable afternoon, all of which we owe to the great team we had working with us. Photographer Charlotte Summers, stylist Hannah Sweeney, make-up artist Lara Schachat and models Lauren Gray and Jessie Lee. Big thank you to them all.

Launch of our A/W collection at Spitalfields

So on Saturday we saw the launch of our A/W 13 collection as well as a new display for our stall at Spitalfields. The collection sees our original clutches, a larger shoulder bag and a smaller, mini clutch all using black PVC with clean lines and minimalistic design.  Our new black PVC and rubber clutches sat on clear perspex shelves which were suspended in the air, whilst the larger bags were able to hang from the overhead parts of the stall. The gloss black PVC is a great contrast with the matte rubber and also fits nicely with the seasons punk/grunge feel.

Wears London has now launched!

This weeks a big week for Reclaim! Our bags are now being sold on the Wears London website! http://www.wears-london.co.uk/

The website was launched on the 1^st of August, so is brand spanking new, featuring London based designers who sell at Spitalfields market throughout the week! The website also includes designers who feature at Brick Lane, Camden, Covent Garden, Greenwich market, Portobello Rd and Notting hill, so is definitely worth checking out!

Make tracks with your Reclaim Bag!

'Make tracks with your Reclaim bag!'

So as the word and bags of Reclaim spread across the globe we thought it would be a fun idea to try and get a picture of each individual with their purchase in a special place, an iconic place, a place that means something to them, anywhere really. 

We will then use the pictures in a new feature on the website called ' Make tracks with Reclaim!' building up an online Look Book and documenting all the corners of the world Reclaimbags go. To be a part of this, simply send a picture of yourself and your bag in an interesting location to our email reclaimbags@hotmail.com and we will do the rest.

Plastic Fantastic : Take Two

As you’ve probably seen we’ve been experimenting with different types of PVC in order to make a new summer-time collection. 

Keeping the same shape as the clear PVC bags, which have been so popular, we now offer them in red and white. The white, creating a monochrome look, which is bang on trend this season, and the red, a more edgy, quirky look. Adding colour to the bags brings more diversity to the brand, giving it another unique selling point, appealing to a larger range of people.

Although, the brand name ‘Reclaim’ cannot be seen at first glimpse of the bags through the coloured PVC, it is underneath, waiting to be revealed. The way in which the white and red PVC contrasts against the black rubber is really striking and definitely won't go unmissed.

The new eye catching range is very much limited edition so to be sure you get one of these pop down to Spitalfields Market in London. They will also be available on the website very soon.

The Free Yard

So this week we decided to check out something a little different and went along to The Free Yard, a new urban and street wear event in Clapham, South London. The event was far from Spitalfields Market which Reclaimbags is used to but certainly brought something new to the table. We showcased our new limited edition red and white PVC and rubber bags, which went down a treat, they will also be available at Spitalfields this Friday!

The event housed numerous different brands that were all trying to get themselves known on the fashion scene and it was great to see so many enthusiastic individuals all passionate about their own range. A wealth of different MCs, DJs, and rap artists played throughout the day which gave the event a raw, interesting and urban atmosphere! And with a full bar available you were sure to have a good day,  we certainly did! 

The Free Yard Event

Check out our purses...they come in two different sizes depending on your preference. Both with a handy magnetic clip fastening. The smaller purse has our statement brand name cut out on the inside of the purse whereas, the larger purse on the outside, again depending on your preference. Let us know which you like best...

Journey of your bag...

Thought you might be interested in finding out a little about the process the rubber goes through from sourcing the material to actually putting the product together.... The tubes are generally not as clean as they could be when I get them so they all get hosed down and thoroughly cleaned to start with. They are then cut into rolls of usable material in which the patterns are then drawn and cut out of. It's then a case of putting the pieces together and all the finishing details which go into making a Reclaim bag special.

Photo shoot for online shop launch...

So in light of preparing for the online shop launch, I felt it necessary to update the images on the website so the whole feel would be refreshing and new. With the help of Charlotte Summers, a brilliant photographer and the beautiful model Maria, this was possible. Also, it was the first official shoot for the new PVC and rubber bags. The shoot was on location rather than in a studio to give it more of a real life feel. It went well, even though it was freezing!! Have a look at some of my favourites on here, the rest will be up on the online shop in the next few days.

Plastic Fantastic

A big Spring/Summer trend this year is plastic/see through and as quite a few people have asked if there is any way colour can be built in to the designs, I went with the compromise. PVC! Also, rubber and PVC generally go hand in hand anyway! Sticking to some of the original sizes of the clutch bags, I have built in a PVC pannel on the front. This works quite nicely as well as you can see the brand name cut out on the underneath pannel. There are three different clutches as part of a mini collection. They are proving pretty popular so far and just debating whether to do any more, would love to know what you think.

Inspiration - The Light Show

Inspiration tends to be lacking slightly in January so take the opportunity to kick start February with something exciting and bright. The Light Show which is on display at the Hayward gallery at the Southbank Centre is just that. Not entirely sure where to start in terms of describing it, words don't really justify the impact of it. I can say it is by far one of the best exhibitions I have been to and that at just £11 a ticket it shouldn't be missed!
